How Should Women Of Good Character Dress ?

How Should Women Of Good Character Dress ?

Oh the hate mail, it's coming. I can envision the piles of e-mail messages filled with negativity piling up on my computer! This blog article should probably carry a warning label telling readers to “beware, you will undoubtedly will be offended by reading this article." I will also undoubtedly by writing this article and explaining the truth, offend every Feminist, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Secularist, Religionist, Feman, politician, cop, teacher, and many others across the planet. The correct question should be, "who won't be offended by this article? "

What could I possibly write and state in this blog article that would be so offending to so many ? Here is the answer, I'm going to talk about how women should dress as outlined in the Christian Bible. By even mentioning the Christian Bible here, I am putting my very life in danger. These day's, Christian persecution is in vogue and at an all time high. No real Christian is safe anywhere these days, especially if they point our ungodly practices in someone. So why even bring up a subject that literally put's my life further in danger and also causes physical death to thousands of women not only in the Middle East, but also adds to the spiritual death of many women here in the West as well? Well, because this subject needs to be not only talked about, it also needs to be confronted as well.

On almost a daily occurrence, I see my friends from both the West and also in the Middle East posting and commenting on photos of women that they either approve of, or enjoy. Here in the West, unfortunately most of the photos I see posted, are of women that in all honesty, resemble prostitutes. "Loose women" you might call them. These photos show women with their body parts hanging out that for the natural(sin natured) man, or lesbian, these photos are unmistakeably posted for their sexual content.

Women who dress like this are usually doing so for attention. They utilize their body parts to attract (usually)men to do things for them. Some call it "manipulation." Usually, these women that dress loosely are looking for money, power, control or something else when they go-about exposing parts of their body parts. I know many of you know exactly what I am talking about when I mention here the women who are pulled over for speeding in her car by a cop, and she proceeds to unbuttoned her shirt a bit so to reveal her breasts so the cop would be manipulated not to give her a speeding ticket. We've all heard stories like that before. Bottom line, many women have done it, or still do this today. It works because as they say in the media business, “sex sells.” The West is saturated and infatuated with "sex" and loose women often exploit this fact.

Opposite of the prostitute, or “loose woman” look, are the Muslim woman who are forced to wear hijabs or full clothing outfits that cover all of their head, and or bodies, minus covered eyes. Indeed, women in most Muslim Countries and even those Muslim women who live here in the West wear many clothes to cover themselves. Islamic Culture both dictates and mandates women wear these clothes so as not to attract or offend men. This sort of covering appears to be an offense to many Westerners, especially for many of those whom I listed earlier in my article. If you ask both men and women in the West how women should dress, most will answer you by telling you, “any damn way she wants.” To Westerners, Muslim women are simply “oppressed by men” and to tell a women how she should dress is simply wrong or somehow “unpatriotic” and offensive.

If you were to visit almost any nation which has a high influence of Islamic religious ideology, you would see that American women are not at all revered, and also the same holds true here pertaining to American's and Westerner's view towards Muslim women and how they “over dress” as well. Each side of the “how women should dress” debate has little room for compromise. There is however a way to finally settle this so called debate if folks are actually willing to listen to wisdom. No one needs to “compromise” but each side needs to accept that there is a correct way, as well as an incorrect way for women to dress according to God's word. It's called “dressing modestly.”

Yes, for the unknowing, the Bible instructs men and women in many areas including how women are to dress. In 1 Timothy 2:19-10, this Scripture declares “in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.” This Bible verse is not so much about denying women in wearing gold, jewelry, or even stating that wearing expensive clothing are bad or unbiblical, but what God's word is declaring here is that what women(or men for that matter) wear, or do not wear is a reflection of who and what they belong to. Sadly, many women in the West have no idea what dressing modestly even means. Modest dress is an unknown attribute in both their vocabulary, as well as their wardrobe. On the opposite end of the spectrum, many Islamic nations force women to dress in a way that is only to please an angry, and legalistic god.Can what the Biblical precept of "modesty" be the answer to this correcting this issue for all women?

The act of dressing or acting with modesty doesn't please much of anyone these days, not in the Middle East, and certainly not here in the West either. I get it, but I also understand that with freedom here in the West, we also have responsibility to ensure that what we do, what we wear is something that does not make us look and sound like the devil either. We will never win the hearts and minds of our enemies if we go to the extreme opposite of what God calls good and moral. You get it too don't you ? I mean it's like nicknaming Las Vegas as “sin city” that makes us Westerners look sleezy.  Is that truly something we should be proud of ? Sadly, many in the West are. Our enemies see us as hypocrites and evil because of it. Back to how women dress however, is what women are wearing no matter where around the globe they live, something that shows modesty and of good moral character ? or is it what women are wearing is sending a message to all societies that either “I cannot be trusted” or “I am a  whore.”

Seriously, women(and men) should take a hard look at their attitudes regarding what their clothing style is telling others, especially if what they are wearing is purposely opposite of Jesus Christ, the same Jesus Christ that was proclaimed King over our many Western nations We are accountable to God whether we like that fact or not. There is a way out of this women's clothing debate and animosity, its called "dressing modestly." If your going to wear clothes to impress, dress modestly, you will not only please others around you, you will also please the God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.

Galatians 1:10 “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”
