Is An Old Tool, The United States Declaration Of Independence A Useful Tool For Today ?
I'd definitely say so-Yes. I will not, nor plan to do an exhaustive comparative study here in this article of how the U.S Declaration Of Independence can be applied to today's serious issues of our Federal and State's violation of civil and most importantly, natural laws every American Citizen is promised, but I will use parts and excerpts from the this historical American document to prove that indeed It should be used to reshape a present US and State's representative governments gone bad.
History shows us the Declaration of Independence (http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/document/ )
was written on behalf of some people who were considered “colonists” and “subjects” of a king who lived far away. The ruler of these “colonists” whose name was King George III, was doing some pretty harsh things to his subjects “across the pond” and some influential and Godly hearted people in the colonies had certainly taken enough “stuff”” from this king who treated them as less than human. At least the letter that the colonists wrote to King George III expressed in the Declaration Of Independence, shared their feelings that they they were being treated inhumane and badly. Those who decided for self rule rather than continue under an oppressive and tyrannical government under King George III decided to say in a way to him, that they had enough, it's time that they went their own way.
I would like here to quote perhaps the “spearing” phrase from the the U.S Declaration of Independence that holds perhaps a piece of human heart not only for most every US Citizen but many around the world as well. Listen to these words (Please read them out loud if you are able or willing); “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” I want to call your attention to the phrase “ We hold these truths to be self-evident.” This simply means in perhaps modern terms that “This only makes common sense.” yes, “common sense.” I have to ask everyone reading this article, has anyone seen or heard much “common sense” from any politicians as of late ? Politicians who are liberal in thought and action have no “common sense” so let's just throw them aside here for awhile. Even some so called “Patriots” and “Tea Party” Federal Legislators voted to recently re-up the “Patriot Act”, losing all common sense and value for the American representative form of government. For those of you unfamiliar with the “Patriot Act” It was a law enacted in the USA after the horrific 911 attacks. The law is entirely unconstitutional as it allows such evil things as warrentless searches of homes, cars and property. Your telephone and other communications can be listened to and recorded by government agencies for no valid reason what-so-ever. The Federal Government especially has sweeping powers to violate the rights of any foreign or US Citizen for any reason it wishes. Like I said; unconstitutional. Many candidates running for national political offices and later were elected, told us that “we are for the people” and they are “tired of government intrusions” are doing the same wicked thing their predecessors did while in office.
Moving on to the next part of the above quoted sentence from the US Declaration Of Independence...“all men created equal”, we know that the USA is a “Republican” form of Government, not a monarchy or and elitist club. The sad situation is today as it was in King George's time, many who in charge of the Executive, Legislative and especially Judicial branches of Federal and state governments act as if they do not need to obey the people they represent nor the laws to be applied equally before all citizens. Many have an elitist view of themselves and do quite the opposite they were elected or placed in position to do. More evil mindedness of “governments” as in the time of the early founders of the USA? You bet.
Next, lets look at what comes next in the paragraph; “ that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” may I please draw your attention to the word “Creator.” This is a reference to the Biblical God. I know that our world has become saturated with atheist and ugly American Historical Revisionists but the fact remains that the majority of the Founding Fathers of the USA were Bible believing Christians.( “The general principles upon which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity...I will avow that I believed and now believe that those principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”~ John Adams)I know not all were, but the majority were. That being said, I want to point out that God holds a big piece in the puzzle of why people suffer( All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible”~Noah Webster). That's correct. If we ignore God in our lives, in our government, if we choose to exclude him from who and what we are, we're going to pay a heavy, heavy price. King George paid that price in the end. Because of his prideful, elitist, arrogant, evil and selfish attitude he lost not only the hearts of the people he was said to rule over, he lost all of the “Colonies in America.” The Bible says “Pride goes before destruction. Proverbs 16:18” I am not just speaking about, or to American Government representatives or those in our Executive, Judicial branches either here. I am speaking to all Americans when I say we need God. We better “get this notion” and get it quick because simply removing or swapping one evil person or government system for another is not going to work out. We Americans want our rights but we better dern well learn to take hold of our God given Biblical responsibilities as well.
I want here to explore the last part of the above quote from the US Declaration of Independence and that is “that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” During the Colonists grievances against King George III that were later listed in the document was “taxation without representations”, “He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only”, “He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries”, “He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

Do any of these quoted grievances from our Founding Fathers' time sound familiar in regards to today's Federal and State's Government actions ? They should. If not, well, you're not paying enough attention. How about the Billions of US Federal and State's monies to rip families apart through Title IV or X funds... Child Protective Services, Domestic Violence Programs, Family Courts all purposely paid with financial incentives to rip families apart. Now, if that isn't a violation of our natural God given right to “ Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” I don't know what else is.
How bad do “things” in America have to get ? Writing on the wall shows that most every kind of evil is allowed to go unchecked in our government. Excluding some large protests within the United States of America, little else has been done to correct the evil, ungodly, wicked and inhumane treatment of U.S Citizens and their God given natural rights by Federal, State and local governments..
Let me finish here with a profound and sobering quote from the U.S Declaration of Independence, please read this carefully and read out loud as well;
“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
I believe my dear fellow Christian and good American citizens. It's time for a change. We cannot separate ourselves to a new land but we certainly can arrange for our present form of government returning to it's founding of what is good and what is right with God and then unto every man, woman and child.
